At the Pacific Science Center Tilden’s fourth and fifth graders experienced Pompeii before and after its epic eruption 2,000 years ago. First, students learned about Pompeii’s advanced, thriving culture. Next, they were immersed in a CGI simulation of the fatal eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Finally, they examined body casts of Pompeii citizens who succumbed to the extreme heat and noxious gases of the eruption. A truly interesting and intense experience.
